The Greek Government gave a €31,728,747.00 Grant for research and development costs to a company called THERACELL LABORATORIES PRIVATE EQUITY, whose 50%shareholder is Orgenesis.
Director at Orgenesis is Prof. Dr. Heiko von der Leyen who happens to be the husband of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen..

The decision No. dep. 68 for the Inclusion of the investment plan of “THERACELL LABORATORIES IKE” in the Strategic Investments procedures of Law 4608/2019 (A’ 66), the INTER-MINISTRICAL COMMITTEE OF STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS ruled in Athens, on November 23, 2021.
The chairman of the interministerial committee was the Minister of Development and Investments SPYRIDON – ADONIS GEORGIADIS, and the Members present were the following: the Deputy Minister CHRISTOS STAIKOURAS, the Minister of Economic Development and Investments NIKOLAOS PAPATHANASIS and the Minister of Environment and Energy KONSTANTINOS SKREKAS GEORGIOS S. GERAPETRITIS
“THERACELL LABORATORIES PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANY” had only 25,000 Euros share capital when the investment file was submitted for approval to the Greek INTER-MINISTRICAL COMMITTEE FOR STRATEGIC INVESTMENTS.
“THERACELL LABORATORIES PRIVATE EQUITY COMPANY” had no EQUITY CONTRIBUTIONS and had given no GUARANTEE according to official data.
Nevertheless, the ministers of the NEA DIMOKRATIA government with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis decided that Prof. Dr. Heiko von der Leyen who happens to be the husband of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Director of the company Orgenesis, his experiments had the prerequisites to be subject to the provisions of Strategic Investments of Law 4608/2019 hereinafter to receive the astronomical amount of € 31,728,747, 00 Grant from the Greek Government for to conduct research in Greece, as decided on August 5, 2022.
